James Lipton couldn't hold back the tears when he found out he had won Best Reality Show Host at the 21st annual Critics' Choice Awards. The Inside the Actor's Studio host was visibly moved by the honor after his Sunday night win. "The most important thing about this award is the first word of it - 'Critics,'" Lipton said in a statement. "To be recognized by them is an immeasurable honor." The awards were presented by The Broadcast Film Critics Association and Broadcast Television Journalists Association.
This is the second time that Lipton has been nominated, but it marks his first win at the show. He beat out former Queer Eye for the Straight Guy co-host Ted Allen (Chopped), Phil Keoghan (The Amazing Race), Jane Lynch (Hollywood Game Night), Jeff Probst (Survivor), and Gordon Ramsay (Hell’s Kitchen).
Other big winners of the night included Amy Schumer for the Critics' Choice MVP Award, The Revenant star Leonardo DiCaprio for Best Actor, and Room's Brie Larson for Best Actress. On the Reality TV front, The Voice won for Best Reality Show- Competition, Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown won for Best Unstructured Reality Show, and Shark Tank won for Best Structured Reality Show. Most recently, Lipton welcomed Jeff Daniels to the Actors Studio. Below, he takes on the famed Bernard Pivot questionnaire.
